Major NMFC Change Affects Many Shippers

The National Motor Freight Traffic Association has made an important change to its National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC) that affects a broad segment of shippers.

The NMFC grouping for machinery and machine parts formerly was classified across six NMFC numbers.   Effective May 1, this grouping has been consolidated under a single NMFC number.

The following NMFC numbers for machinery or machine parts are cancelled:

·         133330

·         133350

·         133370

·         133390

·         133410

·         133430

All machinery and machine parts are now classified as followed:

NMFC #133300
